Peptide Storage & Handling
How to keep research peptides stable — from the moment they arrive as lyophilized powder to after they are reconstituted.
Lyophilized (unmixed) vials
In freeze-dried form, research peptides are relatively stable. Store lyophilized vials at −20 °C, protected from light and moisture. Kept this way, they hold their integrity for extended periods.
Reconstituted solutions
Once a peptide is in solution it is more sensitive. Keep reconstituted vials refrigerated (roughly 2–8 °C), away from light, and minimize temperature swings. Bacteriostatic water helps limit microbial growth during use.
Shipping & short-term transit
Lyophilized peptides tolerate brief periods at ambient temperature during shipping without meaningful loss of integrity, which is why they are shipped freeze-dried. Return them to cold storage promptly on arrival.
Handling best practices
- Swab stoppers before every draw and use sterile syringes.
- Swirl rather than shake to avoid stressing the peptide.
- Label reconstituted vials with concentration and date.
- Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles of solutions.
Quality starts with the source
